How it works

Assessment

First we assess the potential demand of the proposed building, considering the Ethernet and Optical orders we might secure. If we decide to pre-fibre, we absorb the external build costs upfront, resulting in no cost to the developer or building owner and no external Excess Construction Charges (ECCs) passed on to customers later. Please be aware that strict criteria are used to ensure we only pre-provide fibre where it is commercially viable.

Installation

Once a building is approved, we run fibre from the nearest serving network node (a.k.a. 'T node'), laying new duct if needed, into the building communications room or secure common area. Within the communications room, we install a fibre splice point so that businesses can be connected to our fibre network more easily and quickly when they order service from us. We carry out this work in accordance with the developer's construction plans, so the timing of this work will vary and can be very early or quite late within the construction process; aligning any digging with other street works taking place helps to make this an efficient build process.

Ready for orders

Once fibre is installed, our planners record the 'T node' fibre network markers for the building within our planning systems. This ensures that they need the least amount of work to provide end user connectivity and that the available fibre is visible to customers via our dialogue services ahead of any future orders.
