Avoiding or reporting network damage

Help protect a national asset

It's our job to keep the country connected, and it's a responsibility we take very seriously. By avoiding unnecessary accidental damage to our network, you can help us to protect this invaluable national asset.

There are two ways you can do this:

  1. Find out if our network crosses your site before you start digging
  2. Let us know about your plans to start digging as soon as you can

The best way to locate our network is to use our Maps by Email service. If you are carrying out works on public roads and highways, contact our National Notice Handling Centre (NNHC).

Failure to do any of the above could result in a sizeable repair bill which you will be legally obliged to pay to for, with inevitable and costly delays to your project.
