ETH009/22 Ethernet Cablelink update to Product Description and SIN 1001

08/02/2022    For Information

This briefing is for Communications Providers (CPs)

This briefing is to inform CPs of updates to the Product Description and SIN1001 covering the inclusion of the PIA Reference as an acceptable external cable label.

This briefing is to inform CPs about documentation changes to the Ethernet Cablelink product description and SIN1001

As announced on the 18 January 2022, CPs can now use the Passive Infrastructure Access Notice of Intent (PIA NOI) order reference as an acceptable external cable label, in replacement of the EBCL service ID.

  • The PIA NOI order reference is an acceptable alternative if the following criteria are met:
  • The CP is already an established customer for PIA and can place NOI orders.
  • The PIA reference is provided, within the notes field on Eco or CRF, at the point of order submission.

Only one cable can be dropped into the handover box or exchange manhole at a time. This is to ensure there is no duplication of Cable Reference amongst multiple orders.

Both version 6 of the product description & version 1.3 of SIN1001 have been updated to version 6.1 and 1.3.1 respectively, and together with the feature changes described above will be effective from 21 March 2022.  The current product description and SIN1001 will be removed at this time.
