ETH012/22 Ethernet Access Direct Sensitive Pilot

12/02/2022    For action

This briefing is for Communications Providers (CPs)

CPs are invited to be part of a Pilot for the Ethernet Access Direct Sensitive (EAD-S) product, which will test the product systems and processes ahead of full launch, planned for May 2022.

Openreach has developed the EAD-S product in response to SoR 8599 “Replacement for EAD E”, which we expect to launch in early May 2022.

EAD-S provides CPs with point to point EAD connectivity for sensitive sites; it is provided without an Openreach management connection.

Ahead of launch we will be offering a pilot to test our new processes, for any CP wishing to take part. During this pilot Service Level Agreements (SLA)s or Service Level Guarantees (SLG)s will not apply.

During the pilot the CP may place up to 10 Orders under the Pilot Agreement. The pilot will commence on 22 March 2022 and last until the launch of EAD-S.

The ‘EAD Sensitive Pilot Agreement’ which sets out the pricing to be used in the Pilot as well as the draft EAD-S Product Description is available for CPs to request from Gareth Wilmot.

EAD-S Pilot Entry Requirements:

CPs wishing to take part in the pilot need to:

  • Sign the ‘EAD Sensitive Pilot Agreement’,
  • Make appropriate provision in their organisation to fulfil the requirements of the EAD-S product, such as fault management.
