This briefing is to inform CPs about the launch of OSA Cloud Connect.

Openreach is announcing the launch of Optical Spectrum Access (OSA) Cloud Connect as an addition to the current OSA portfolio. OSA Cloud Connect offers managed wavelengths of 200Gbit/s which is a two-fold increase on the 100Gbit/s maximum wavelength capacity available on OSA today.

Orders for OSA Cloud Connect will be accepted from 15 May 2023.

Product overview

OSA Cloud Connect offers

•        A choice of two chassis types (2-slot; 4-slot)

•        A choice of no filter or an 8-channel filter

•        A choice of two wavelength card types supporting up to two 200Gbit/s wavelengths with a range of client presentation options

•        Resilience Option 2 (RO2) on bearers

Openreach is aiming to launch a range of additional optical filter and amplification equipment for OSA Cloud Connect in the third quarter of fiscal year 2023/24. Prior to this, CPs are welcome to approach Openreach for indicative pricing. Further updates will be provided via the Ethernet product and commercial group (EPCG) forum as this development phase progresses.

Pre-order designs and quotes for OSA Cloud Connect can be requested from 8 May 2023. New orders for OSA Cloud Connect can be submitted via a new Customer Requirements Form (CRF) that will be available to download shortly before the launch date.
