ETH019/19 Street Access 1Gbps Access Product Trial Extension

17/04/2019    For Information

Ethernet Communications Providers (CPs)

This briefing is to inform CPs that Openreach intends to extend the customer trial of the 1Gbps Street Access Product.

We're pleased to announce we intend to continue the trial of the new 1Gbps Street Access Product (originally expected to finish at the end of April 2019) until the end of July 2019.

The trial product provides 1Gbps point to point Ethernet connectivity with synchronous Ethernet capability using small, ruggedised Network Terminating Equipment (NTE) accommodated in street furniture locations - such as lamp posts and street cabinets, via a dedicated, single-fibre path from a headend NTE located in a local BT Exchange or a CPs Point of Presence (PoP).

The trial will test the technology solution, prove operational processes and assess the commercial viability of the product.

The trial product will be available nationally and limited to a maximum of 100 circuits in total initially.

The current trial product pricing will continue to the end of July 2019.

ETH020/19 Ethernet Access Portfolio Rationalisation

17/04/2019    For Information

This briefing is for Ethernet Communications Providers (CPs).

This briefing is to inform CPs of our intention to stop new supply and subsequently withdraw two products from the Ethernet Access Portfolio - CCTV Access and EAD SyncE (100Mbps, 1Gbps and 10Gbps)

There are a number of products in the Ethernet Access Portfolio that have negligible demand from CPs. We therefore intend to rationalise the portfolio and intend to do this in phased manner.
Phase 1
From 31 July 2019 CCTV Access and EAD SyncE (100Mbps, 1Gbps and 10Gbps) will no longer be available for new supply. We then intend to withdraw both of these products on 1 August 2020.
Installed Circuits from 31 July 2019
We will review the circuits that are active after 31 July 2019 and work with any affected CPs to ensure all services are ceased before 1 August 2020.

Future phases
We continue to assess demand across the portfolio and will communicate any further plans to rationalise the products available

If you require any further information please contact your Openreach sales and relationship manager.

Note: Each Headend NTE can accommodate a maximum on 8 circuits

Further Information

Trial circuits will be sold on a 12 month term commitment. We reserve the right to cease the trial circuits after the 12 month minimum period has elapsed or migrate the circuit to an alternative product (if available).

Please note that bandwidth upgrades from the Street Access 100Mbps product are not permitted in the trial.

The trial product provision lead-time is 57 working days (subject to survey).

Repair SLA/SLGs will not be applicable to the trial product.

Technical information about the trial product will be published at: https://www.btplc.com/SINet/SINs/index.htm (STIN 524)
