This briefing is for all Communications Providers (CPs).

This briefing is to inform all CPs about how we will consolidate routers and better plan into existing capacity within the copper Data Communications Network (DCN).

Following a successful consolidation trial in 2018, we’ve identified that we can consolidate routers and remove the redundant equipment, freeing up space and reducing power consumption. In parallel, our planning team will proactively look for opportunities to plan into spare capacity and provide service without the need for a new PSTN line. This will start in Autumn 2020 and not affect service. Management connectivity of the EAD equipment, via a DCN connection, will be maintained.
