ETH081/19 Ethernet Access Portfolio Rationalisation (Phase 2)

30/10/2019    For Information

This briefing is for Ethernet Communications Providers (CPs).

This briefing is to notify CPs of our intention to stop new supply and subsequently withdraw two products from the Ethernet Access Portfolio - EAD Enable and Street Access (Outside Broadcast variant)

There are a number of products in the Ethernet Access Portfolio with very low volumes and negligible demand from CPs. As part of an ongoing portfolio rationalisation programme, we intend to withdraw a number of these products in a phased manner.

Phase 1 was notified to industry on 20 June 2019, where we capped CCTV Access and EAD SyncE for new supply, with a planned withdrawal date of 20 September 2020

Phase 2:

This briefing serves as notice of Phase 2 to CPs, that from 31 January 2020, EAD Enable and Street Access (Outside Broadcast Variant) will not be available for new supply, with both products to be withdrawn from the Ethernet Portfolio on 31 January 2021.

Installed Circuits from 31 January 2020

We will review the circuits that are active after 31 January 2020 and work with any affected CPs to ensure a suitable alternative is found before all services are ceased on 31 January 2021.

Future phases

We continue to assess demand across the portfolio and will communicate any further plans to rationalise the products available.
