For information
This briefing is for all Communications Providers (CPs).
This briefing is to inform all CPs about a change to the LLU and Access Locate power price.
We regularly review the cost and prices for electricity to ensure we only pass through our average annual costs in our prices. The most recent review is complete which shows our costs have been adversely impacted by market fluctuations even after allowing for the benefit arising from the government’s Energy Bill Relief Scheme announced in September 2022. The net impact of these factors has resulted in a 1.5% increase in our average power costs for 2022/23 (see below table).

We are obliged to provide 90 days’ notice and the earliest date we can increase the price is 1 March 2023 (in line with our billing cycle). This leaves one month of the 2022/23 financial year to recover the 1.5% annual cost shortfall. The price increase required to recover the annual shortfall is the difference between the current average cost (23.48p) and the updated average cost (23.83p) times 12 months (or c0.35p x 12 = 4.12p). As a result, to ensure cost recovery, the current power usage price will increase on 1 March 2023 from £0.2782/kWh to £0.3194/kWh for all comingling products utilised for LLU, Access Locate and Access Locate Plus.
